Jacob Henderson, DO, Joins The Kidney and Hypertension Center

The Kidney and Hypertension Center (KHC) is proud to welcome Jacob Henderson, DO, to our team of nephrologists serving patients across Kentucky and Ohio. Dr. Henderson’s arrival strengthens our ability to deliver comprehensive, compassionate kidney care to communities throughout the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region.

Meet Jacob Henderson, DO

Dr. Henderson’s connection to nephrology runs deeper than most. As a child, he watched his own mother become a living kidney donor. That experience gave him an early window into how much kidney care can change a family’s life. His passion for the field grew during medical training, where mentors introduced him to the intricacies of renal physiology. He was drawn to the fast-moving treatments now available for kidney disease.

He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, graduating with highest honors. There, he received the Board of Trustees Award for achieving the top cumulative GPA in his class.

He completed his internal medicine residency at The Christ Hospital in Cincinnati. That experience was shaped largely by caring for critically ill patients during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Henderson then completed a nephrology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. While there, he received the Fellow Educator Golden Stethoscope Award for his dedication to teaching medical students.

Dr. Henderson has also contributed to peer-reviewed nephrology research published in the American Journal of Kidney Diseases. His particular interests include chronic kidney disease, kidney stone prevention, glomerular diseases, and IgA nephropathy. Clinically, he treats patients dealing with chronic kidney disease, hypertension, electrolyte disorders, acute kidney injury, and dialysis needs.

Having trained in Cincinnati, Dr. Henderson chose to return to the region to care for the community that shaped his path into medicine. He believes strong patient care starts with listening. He works to make sure every patient feels informed and involved in decisions about their health. Outside the clinic, he enjoys golf, pickleball, spending time outdoors, and cheering on the Cincinnati Bengals.

KHC is one of the leading kidney groups in Kentucky and Ohio. Our team of physicians, advanced practice providers, and support staff work together to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care for people living with kidney disease. We are honored to welcome Dr. Henderson to that mission and look forward to the impact he will make for our patients.
