Isaac P. Thomas, MBBS, MD, MRCP

Dr. Thomas worked in a private practice based in northern Kentucky for the past 20+ years being trained in general nephrology, including challenges posed by diabetes-associated kidney disease, evaluation & management of glomerulonephritis, hypertension management, workup for and long term follow up of kidney transplant patients.

He is a self-proclaimed “wannabe” geologist who switched career tracks and went to medical school in southern India. Dr. Thomas was on the medical school jeopardy team and went to the national “Quiz Time”’ finals. His graduation was followed by post-graduate training in internal medicine in India.

Dr. Thomas moved to Scotland and trained as a junior doctor with the NHS for a couple of years. He then immigrated to Kentucky and trained at the University of Louisville in internal medicine & nephrology.

He joined The Kidney and Hypertension Center in 2000, a week after the birth of his daughter Grace. His wife, Liza, is a rheumatologist in private practice in KY. Their oldest child, David, graduated in 2021 from the University of Louisville School of Medicine.

Racquetball and hiking are his two stress relievers.
