Bharvi P Oza-Gajera M.D.
Dr. Oza first became interested in Nephrology during her residency training when she was drawn to the intricacies of the diagnosis and management of acute kidney injury, electrolyte disturbances and dialytic therapies. Her desire to be involved in procedural work was matched once she discovered Interventional Nephrology and the satisfaction of being able to immediately improve patients’ dialysis vascular accesses and therefore drastically improve their quality of life. She completed her Interventional Nephrology training at the University of Wisconsin and practiced for 12 years in academia, reaching the rank of Full Professor of Clinical Medicine before deciding to join The Kidney and Hypertension Center to focus further on dedicated patient care and improving patient quality of life through improved dialysis vascular access care.
She serves on multiple national societies including the American Society of Nephrology (ASN) and the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology (ASDIN), holding leadership roles in both, including the Transforming Dialysis Access Together medical training workgroup in the former and as a council member and Education Committee Chairwoman for the latter. Her interests lie in improving the creation, development, maintenance and subsequent plan for dialysis vascular accesses as well as improving patient quality of life. She is a fierce patient advocate, serving previously on national committees within this realm interfacing with congressional offices representing her patients.
Dr. Oza prides herself on spending adequate time with each of her patients, thoroughly getting to know them and their lifestyles to then be able to serve them each in a unique way. She easily collaborates with other physicians to improve the overall comprehensive care for her patients.
In her personal time, Dr. Oza enjoys traveling and learning about different cultures and their own historical contexts as well as adventure travel including biking, hiking, kayaking and spending time with her family. She is known to try just about anything at least once.
