R. Keith Waller, NP

R. Keith Waller has always been fascinated with Nephrology and the role the kidneys play on your overall health and well-being. He believes that his background as an ICU RN and training as a Family Nurse Practitioner, gives him a unique opportunity to care for and educate patients on prevention, inpatient care, and long term management of kidney disease and hypertension. Keith has frequently taken care of patients in the ICU with AKI or CKD, caring for patients on Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, which he finds very interesting. He is one of the CRRT “super users” at Anderson Hospital.

Keith’s approach is to have good communication and dialogue with his patients. He wants his patients to feel like they always have time to express their goals, needs, and wishes, while never feeling rushed. He is the provider that will pull up a chair, sit down, and just talk to patients and their families. Keith believes that it is very important to explain the “why” we do things. Patients should be active participants in their plan of care. Lastly, he loves to teach and educate.

Keith loves anything outdoors; hiking, hunting and fishing. He has hiked two 14ers in Colorado, including Mount Elbert (highest peak in the lower 48), and plans to try to do Denali in the next couple years. He also loves sports, is a huge UK basketball and Indianapolis Colts fan, and has won multiple Fantasy Football championships! When not working or spending time outdoors, he loves spending time with family and friends.
